SNOW IN AFRICA? (Cont'd)

Restaurant & hotel in the Dades Canyons aka the Great Canyon of Morocco.

The Dades Valley thru which a river flows. This is where I learnt a famous Moroccan phrase, "Water is life" which I suppose applies to lots of other places which rely on mountains for their water source.

The town square of a medina in the Dades Valley.

On the road of a thousand kasbahs (fortified town or city) with the Atlas Range in the background.

The man has a lizard which the bedouins in the desert use akin to a guard dog as it will bite animals and other intruders.

The Kasbah of Tiffeltout which used to belong to a powerful man (minister?) but is now preserved as a kasbah museum. It is luxurious compared to a modern mansion.

The netting like covering in the ceiling of the kasbah helps to keep it cool.

Shot of the kasbahs found in this region.

When the going gets hot, she will whip out her umbrella or take cover in the shade.

The famous Ait Benhaddou, the most spectacular kasbah in the south of Morocco. It is here where movies like "Gladiator",  "Prince of Persia" and "Lawrence of Arabia" were shot. On this side of the bridge, a new village has been built but some 15 or so families choose to live over there with some opening their homes to tourists for a fees.

Enlarge the pic and see the list of movies that have been shot at this location.
