Chendol by the Melaka River. Cheap - only RM 1.50 but the taste left much to be desired. Made a two-day weekender to Melaka or Malacca on 14/15 May. The last trip made in 2006 was to highlight how Melaka had changed economically, etc. Now, sharing more pix for your viewing pleasure.
Chicken rice balls served at Formosa, one of the better chicken rice restaurants. Why balls? Because the rice to be eaten with the chicken is squeezed into rice balls (top of pic). Didn't particularly like it bec it was hard - now machine-done. I threw one on the table and it bounced!
Chicken curry served at Nonya Suan for dinner - could have been better!
This bowl of chendol served at Nonya Suan is delicious. What makes chendol nice is thinly-sliced ice, enough gula melaka, red beans and not red kidney beans, and fresh santan (coconut milk).
The remains of a Portuguese fort in what is now referred to as Portuguese Square. Behind the fort stands the remains of St Paul's Church built by the Portuguese, the first colonial power to arrive in Melaka.

The tower, added by the British, was used for storage of ammunition; by then, the church was not used as such.

Mosque in Harmony Street. It looks similar to the one built by Arab traders in Surabaya some 500 years ago.
Harmony Street is the showcase of religious harmony here. Along it, there is a mosque, a Hindu temple and a couple of Taoist/Buddhist temples.
This restaurant may not look it! I had a very sumptuous meal here in 2006. The fare served is Teo Chew. Advance booking is needed as there are only 6-7 tables inside. Location - Jalan Hang Kasturi.
If you're Gen-Y, you'd probably end up here in Yonker Walk chilling out with an ice-cold beer. Live music is provided at this pub too!

Elaborate carvings on an altar table in Cheng Hoon Teng, Melaka's oldest Taoist temple built in 1646. This temple was featured in my 2006 postings.
Sneaked this shot of antiques found in a shop in Jalan Tan Cheng Bock.
While walking on Jalan Tan Cheng Bock, I came upon this beautifully done ceiling of a preserved colonial house. The pair of "qi ling", an auspicious legendary animal in Chinese annals, prop up the surname of the family residing here.
