SINGAPORE NATURE TRAILS - TREE-TOP WALK

Singapore's only tree-top walk is located in a forest reserve which can be accessed from this car-park off Venus Drive or from the MacRitchie Reservoir car park. The latter entails a long walk to reach it. My friends and I walk there from the Venus Drive car park three times a week. Come to a trail with nice scenery, a tough route and the freshest air you can find. Avoid weekends, school holidays and public holidays when it will be crowded and many people also spray themselves with unnecessary mosquito repellent as to spoil the air.

It's not autumn in Singapore but this is the start of the trail leading to the only tree-top walk we have here. By walking briskly from Venus Drive, the journey to and from the tree-top walk will take about an hour and a half.

Interesting fauna and flora can be seen in the forest e.g. this big pandan. Good for making bak chang?

This is not the bridge over troubled waters. The right turn leads to the tree-top walk and the left leads to the dog walk for owners to walk their dogs there.

This sign is illusive for it's indicated that the distance from the foot of the hill to the tree-top walk entrance is only 100m. It seems more like 300m uphill and 250 downhill.

This part which begins the slope up to the tree-top walk is most difficult as one needs to overcome inertia to begin the climb.

The gate-way. As it's one-way only, after entering, one has to exit the 250-m suspension bridge by a boardwalk leading to the pipeline or to the Northern MacRitchie Route. Normal opening hours are from 0900 to 1700 hrs. During school holidays, the opening time is at 0845 hrs.
The treetop walk itself - length about 250 m.
After exiting, this board walk leads 1st to the pipeline and then to the Northern Route to return to the Ranger's Hut. The distance to the said route is about 1.5 km long.

Below ground here is the pipeline which brings water from Johor to Singapore. Following the pipeline, one can walk to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve or Dairy Farm. The pipeline also dissects the boardwalk leading from the exit of the tree-top walk to the MacRitchie Northern Route.

My kakis enjoy trudging uphill on the pipeline.

A stream in the middle of nowhere?
