On the way out, we stopped at a small place called Liantang for lunch. A grab of the paddies which would become a common sight for our sojourn of some 3,550km.
The first attraction was Yang Gui Fei Garden in Rong Xian, Guangxi; this pavilion is dedicated to a Chinese emperor.
In the distance, another attraction which we didn't visit as it seemed far off.
A statue of Yang Gui Fei, one of the four great beauties of ancient China. Raymond and I couldn't fathom why this statue bares her breasts. Surely China was not so open during the era she was regarded as an icon of Chinese beauty?
The focus of the Yilin Cultural centre - a big-tummy Buddha!
The Yilin Cultural Centre is a modern building which appears awesome.
Another shot of the cultural centre from across the river.
This part of Yilin is a place popular with the young and trendy much like Ximending in Taipei. Raymond is buying some beef balls from a young vendor.
Having fruit juice and small snacks before dinner. The guy in the centre is our driver.
As evening approached, this street in Yilin is closed to traffic for young vendors to display their ware.
