My wife and I halfway down the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Those who are not fit may have to hire sedan chairs to go down and up the gorge. Don't worry - it costs only 60RMB (just a little over S$10) for a two-way journey. The Chinese characters read "Yunnan Province, China" across and "Zhongdian Leaping Tiger Gorge" down, Zhongdian being the old name for Shangri-la before it was given recognition as the shangri-la by the central government.
