MINGALABAR - MYANMAR IS ANOTHER JEWEL IN OUR BACKYARD

Phwar Saw Village reminds me of a Singapore kampong from the 50's. This is where a villager will be having his shower. Most urban folks will shy away from it for the cold and embarrassment?

My friend, Methis, says this reminds him of villages in India where cows are reared for milk and to be workers in the field.

And this is the kitchen of the house. Bare floor but there are basic amenities like rice cookers while the basic wood stove is used as well.

I have captured an image of an elderly lady smoking in a painting in Mingun. This, however, is the Real McCoy smoking tobacco wrapped a tobacco leaf resembling a pipe.

Village lacquer ware maker.

This is probably his wife preparing betel nuts for sale. You've got to be a hero of sorts to try it looking at the materials and implements used

Wood carver at work. She wears make up, if you can spot! It's Thanaka which most Myanmar women use.

Sunset over Bagan captured from a hillock.

The same sunset with my arms a little outstretched!

The sun setting on the River Irrawaddy, while we were enjoying light snacks and drinking Rum Sour on sand bank.

It's not often that one gets to sit on a sandbank of the River Irrawaddy, munching on snacks, drinking Rum Sour and waiting to catch the sun set.
