NORTHERN XINJIANG, CHINA (Cont'd)

Our visit to the 'Ghost City'. In Chinese, it is called Weurhe Devil City. This area is geomorphologic and the 'city' came about by long term weathering while the 'ghost' part by winds blowing during the late evening or at night making howling sounds reminiscent of ghosts. The place is usually very warm as it's located in the Karamay Petroleum Refining Land which is essentially desert. One can imagine that in summer, it will be extremely unbearable to be there.
In the Ghost City, many movies have been shot, including "Warriors of Heaven and Earth" featuring Zhou Wei, a well known Chinese actress. Many TV series have also been shot here.
Typical features of the Ghost City.
