PLIGRIMAGE TO MEDJUGORJE, BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA, CUM HOLIDAY TO EASTERN EUROPE

Sunset shot from "Jasna Gora", the holiest shrine and pilgrimage centre in Czestochowa, Poland. The greatest relic to be venerated here is the Black Madonna, a priceless painting of our Lady reputed to be done by the Evangelist-Apostle St Luke. For more of the Black Madonna, visit www.marypages.com/Czestochowa.htm

Our group of pilgrims walking there to take in the sights and imbibe the holiness of the shrine. We attended mass there too.

The steeple of the Jasna Gora. The town of Czestochowa was built around this shrine.

Entrance to Jasna Gora.

The dome of the shrine with its beautiful architecture, paintings of Biblical scenes and other adornments.

The top portion of the main altar. On the left of the lower portion is installed a sash worn by Blessed Pope John Paul II with a bullet hole and a blood stain clearly visible from the assassination attempt.

Hourly masses are held. Pilgrims are allowed to go around the altar by the side even when mass is held. Behind the main altar is a receptacle containing relics of Blessed Pope John Paul II,  St Sister Faustina and St Maximillian Kolbe.

One of several stain glass pieces in Jasna Gora depicting a scene from Jesus' Passion with Blessed Pope John Paul II, St Sister Faustina and St Maximillian Kolbe in it.

Church of Our Lady Victorious in Prague where we attended mass and also venerated the Infant Jesus of Prague. The church is situated in a small piece of land through which a tram line runs and other shops abut it. For history. visit en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infant_Jesus_of_Prague

One of the many vestments for the Infant Jesus displayed in the museum. Many such vestments were presented by royalty and famous people and contain diamonds, gold and other precious jewels.

An ornately carved monstrance on display in the museum.
