Prey Rup is considered an architecturally and artistically superior temple mountain built in late 10th century by Rajendravarman II, based on Hinduism (Shiva) and has its own style. It is historically important in that it was the second temple erected after the Khymer capital was shifted back to Angkor following an upheaval when it was shifted to Koh Ker.
