Entrance to Banteay Srey which may be translated loosely as "citadel of the women" but it could refer to the delicate beauty of the sandstone carvings there. With the right sunlight, the buildings appear a beautiful pink. Constructed late 10th Century by King Rajendravarman, it was based on Hinduism (Shiva) and has its own style. Of all Angkorian temples, this has the most intricate, deep and beautiful Khmer carvings. It is said that return visitors will not hesitate to visit again. It is 38 km from Siem Reap.
