Some of the shops on the ground level of the White Swan Hotel located on an island called Shamian in Guangzhou. This hotel is recognised as one of the top hotels in China. Shamian has a colonial past as it was granted as a concession to the British after the Opium War. We went there specially to see the hotel in its setting and to have lunch with Raymond's ex-colleague at the Shamian Hotel nearby.
